Leading the development of environmentally friendly technology

Vauxhall and General Motors have a clear and comprehensive strategy for the development of environmentally friendly product technologies:

• Further improvement of petrol- and diesel- powered internal combustion engines, as well as manual and automatic transmissions. Key to our ecoFLEX strategy is Eco-Turbo, the downsizing of vehicle engines to smaller displacements with better performance and significantly lower CO2 emissions.

• Expansion of flex-fuel vehicles capable of running on renewable fuels such as E85. On a source-to-wheels basis, E85 can reduce CO2 emissions by 70% over petrol

• Aggressive development of extended-range electric vehicles and further development and commercialisation of hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
